This is Ilana, who loves her red curly hair. I have prepped her with the wash, products and blowdry. This is a simple "trick" to add volume and a little shape, while leaving it down. In my hand, are small butterfly clips. You can get them at the drugstore. I'm just lifting the top hairs and placing them underneath, where you can't see them.
See what a difference it makes? It also helps to keep the hair out of her face. All of us with long hair can appreciate that.
Okay, this is officially style #1. This is a beautiful quick updo that will look elaborately done. With her hair parted in the middle for symmetry, I started on one side and grabbed a section of hair. I then start to twist it and direct it back behind the head. Curly hair loves twists because it likes to stay together in a cluster.
I start to work from side to side and I meet the twists in the middle of the head and hold it in place with a secure bobby pin. As you can see, it's starting to take shape and you can leave it here for a half Updo. Which is also very pretty.
I'm am proceeding to take twists from each side and meet them in the middle, until I have no more hair left.
Finally, this is the end result. This style would make anyone in the room eye's wander with interest on your hair.
This next style, starts off as one dutch braid down the center of the head. A dutch braid is a french braid but turned inside out, so it is not flat to the head.
Use an elastic band to tie the end of the braid. Next, starting at the top, pull from each side of the braid to stretch the loop of center. Use a pin to keep it in place. Continue down the braid, gently pulling it away to create a new shape. Last, turn the ends of the braid into the hairline and pin up to lift the hairstyle.
Finished Look Elegant and off her face. You can show off your accessories now.
Style #3 I love braids and they work well with curls, again because you are working with bunches of hairs. With this one, you leave the front sides left out. This is anything in front of the ears. This is used for many diffent styles to add softness and interest around the face. The pictures above are working side to side. Next, do one standard braid and tie the ends with a band. Next, take a piece out from the braid and loosely start to wrap it around the existing braid. Use a hairpin to keep it in place. Continue to take a few random pieces out and wrap them over the braid. This will give it a double texture of a wrapped braid.
You can then start to take small sections from the front and wrap them around the existing braid. Do this on both sides.
This is what it starts to look like as it's done. A very textured look. Also romantic pushed off to the side.
Finished Look You can add a fancy adornment to it.
For the last style, I wanted it to be fun. I took 3 baby blue extension pieces, washed them beforehand and twisted them on 3 pencils. I let them dry/set on the pencils overnight to get a tight curly look from them. On one side, I lifted the top hair and laid the track on the hairline. I pinned it in place and set the second one next to it. The third one I placed on the other side. A fun flair to add pizazz to her night. The color will help her to stand out and be the life of the party.
Finished Look I Love this look! Her hair is down, showing off those sexy curls and the blue adds a whole other color dimension. She's definitely ready for the parties. All the looks are so different too. It just depends on what you are wearing.
That completes this blog entry. Hope you found this to be helpful and entertaining. Please leave me any questions and comments at the bottom.
